Statistics
The MSc in Statistics serves to prepare students for particular career options and reflect the diverse research expertise within the department. The courses offer optional pathways in medical, pharmaceutical and environmental statistics. Covering the most up to date statistical methods and providing a grounding in substantive theory, these courses are suitable for those with a background in mathematics or statistics. We offer both full-time and part-time study options.

Data Science
Data Science is the systematic study of information. Data scientists work with others by taking an initial research or business question and gathering data, from a range of sources, and performing analyses to provide insight and to inform decision making.
Launched in 2014-15, this interdisciplinary programme is offered by several Science and Technology departments in collaboration. Different masters schemes allow for specialism and can be chosen to reflect your academic background and career aspiration.

Quantitative Methods for Science, Social Science and Medicine
The Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma and MSc in Quantitiative Methods provide a practical foundation to the theory and application of statstical methods in the social and health sciences. You will explore ways of applying this knowledge to areas such as criminology, health, psychology and other substantive social sciences, and learn about analysing data from large UK Government social surveys. These courses are suitable for those with a good level of numeracy from any background and the constituent modules are designed to facilitate full-time or part-time study.

Quantitative Finance
Lancaster University Management School and the Faculty of Science and Technology collaboratively deliver this interdisciplinary programme. It offers graduates from quantitative degrees a route into careers in the areas of banking or finance. On this programme you will acquire and apply advanced analytical and technical skills to the analysis of risk and return in a range of financial institutions and corporations. There is a strong focus on computer based financial information within the core courses, and the opportunity to specialise in particular interests through the optional modules.
