Dr Anastasios Noulas
Lecturer in Data ScienceResearch Overview
Anastasios is a Lecturer at the new Data Science Institute atLancaster University, where he leads projects related tolocation-based technologies, mobile computing and complex social andtechnological systems.Anastasios completed his PhD in 2013 in the Network and OperatingSystems group at the Computer Laboratory in the University ofCambridge. His main research interests include human mobilitymodelling, social network analysis, location-based services and thesharing economy. During his PhD he has published at top-tierconferences and journals in the fields of data mining, online socialsystems and user behaviour modelling, combining machine learning andcomplex systems techniques. Prior to joining Lancaster University,Anastasios was also a Data Scientist at Foursquare Labs in New Yorkand Telefonica Research, Madrid. Over the past years he hascollaborated with a number of Start-Ups including retail analyticsprovider PiinPoint, whereas in 2015 he has teamed up with researchersin Cambridge and Belgium to launch the OpenStreetCab project.
