Research Interests

I am a Reader in Visual Cognition, a title which tells you where my interests lie within psychology. My current research projects aim:

  1. To reveal the functional organisation of visual remembering and visual knowledge, and their links with verbal processes, especially object naming.
  2. To reveal the nature and origins (environmental and psychological) of cross-sensory correspondences, and the functional significance of these correspondences for visual cognition, visual aesthetics, and language (e.g., sound symbolism and language acquisition).
