Our practical, hands-on courses reinforce your learning by solving problems through design-build-test project activity. Many of the projects are interdisciplinary, just as you would find in industry.
Lancaster is consistently ranked highly in all of the UK's major university league tables, which recently include the Complete University Guide (8th).
In the 2017 Guardian University Guide our Mechanical Engineering course was rated 2nd best in the UK, with 100% of students in employment or further study after 6 months. The same table revealed that Lancaster was the 6th best in the UK for Chemical Engineering, with 100% of students satisfied with the course and 94% o students satisfied with our Electronic & Electrical Engineering courses.
Our new Engineering building opened in January 2015 and has been purpose built to reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the subject. It provides modern facilities to accompany world-class teaching and research to prepare and inspire the next generation of engineering talent. In addition, the building has been highly commended by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in the ‘Design through Innovation’ category at their 2016 RICS North West Awards.
