How do I sign up?

It is easy to sign up for our research training courses through the Student Portal, but remember to make a note of the details in your diary or on your calendar.

To sign up, please follow the five steps below:

  1. Click on the Student Portal link from the University home page;
  2. Login with your University username and password;
  3. Select Event Sign Up, under Student Services on the right-hand side of the page;
  4. Select and enrol on the courses you wish to attend;
  5. Add a note to your diary, Outlook calendar or set a reminder on you phone to let you know when the session is taking place!

Sessions will be advertised by email two weeks before they take place, and the event sign up will then be opened.

You will be sent an email reminder before the session takes place, but it is your responsibility to ensure that if you have signed up for a session you turn up at the right place and at the right time. This email will be sent to your Lancaster email address.

Once courses are full, they will become greyed out and unavailable for booking. Over time and due to cancellations, places may become available so make a note to check back at the Event Sign Up page regularly.

If you are unable to sign up please email The Graduate School and include the module code in the subject line, e.g. FSTG803: Managing Your PhD.

Many of our courses have a limited number of places, so book early to avoid disappointment. You will be kept up to date on the available courses by email throughout the year to your University registered email address.

What do I do if I can't attend a course that I have booked onto?

If you cannot attend a session for which you have signed up, please contact The Graduate School as soon as possible. We realise that circumstances can often mean last minute changes, but we would appreciate being given at least three days’ notice if you are unable to make it to a training session.  By cancelling in advance we can reallocate your place to someone on the waiting list.

Please note that if you fail to attend a training session without letting us know, we will not consider an application for a Graduate School Travel Grant.
